Simply cosy: Knit your own baby booties

My children also wore handmade baby booties. Made from soft merino wool and simply knitted with knit and purl stitches. An easy knit pattern for slightly experienced beginners.
The stretchy and extra-long cuffs make them easy to put on and can be pulled up to the knee for warmth like baby socks or simply folded over. An additional ribbon ensures that the shoes fit perfectly and cannot be constantly kicked off. My tutorial contains two versions, with or without knitted ribbons.
You will need about 50g of a fine, 3 ply yarn for both shoes. I used the GOTS-certified and mulesing-free Cheeky Merino Joy wool from Rosy Green Wool.
Alternatively, Big Merino from DROPS or Bingo from Lana Grossa (100% virgin wool merino) are also suitable for the needle size and yardage specified.
Wool leftovers from your stash can also be wonderfully utilised.
You also need:
The baby shoe is knitted top down starting at the cuff and is sewn together almost invisibly at the end. This means you don't need any DPN's, which I found not easy to deal with as a beginner knitter.
Combined with a matching baby hat oder wrap cardigan a wonderful baby set and personalised newborn gift for a baby girl or boy can be created.
