Sleep bag pattern

With this pattern, you can easily knit a cozy baby cocoon that your baby can also use as a sleep bag – knitted in the round top down in one piece, with no seams. The small decorative seam down the middle is created by alternating knit and purl stitches, and the wide, stretchy cuff keeps the tummy and back nice and warm. At the foot end, the cosy snuggle sack is either knitted together using the 3-needle bind off or sewn together in the traditional way. You can also choose to incorporate a belt slot for the baby car seat (explained in the pattern).

If you like, you can also knit a matching baby hat or baby pants to go with it.

You should know the basics of knitting for this swaddle sack: knit stitches, increases, decreases by knitting stitches together, and, where necessary, knitting stitches together or casting off

• LEVEL: beginner
• SIZE: newborn (preemies) – approx. 10 months
  
• YARN: 200g Big Merino Hug by Rosy Green Wool, (100% GOTS-certified virgin merino wool), 160m ~ 100g or any other aran, worsted 8 - 10 ply yarn
  
• NEEDLES: circular needles 4.0 and 5.0 mm, US 6 and 8 (40 cm long for the cuffs, optionally 60 cm for the bodysuit), additional circular needle 4.0 to 5.0 mm, US 6 and 8 (for knitting together at the foot end). Alternatively, you can cast off and then sew the pieces together.
